Frequently Asked Questions

What do these plugins do?

They allow you to specify how to make the image on your output device (printer, projector, etc) look more like the image on your screen.

What are the costs?

There is a one-time license fee of $9.95 for both plugins (total cost).  You do not need any other equipment other than a Windows or Mac computer and either Photoshop or Photoshop Elements (see What are the system requirements below). Then you can use them for as long as you want and create as many profiles as you would like.

Is there a trial period?

Yes, you can use the software for free for 10 days.

How many profiles can I create?

As many as you would like.  It takes about 10 minutes to create a profile.

What are the system requirements?

Adobe Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, and Windows (XP or Vista) or Mac (OSX).

I just downloaded PhotoPurify.zip.  What do I do with it?

Extract the zip file into a folder.  Double-click the file instructions.htm inside it.

Does this replace ICC profiles?

No.  If you can afford or need ICC profiles, then you should not buy a license to PhotoPurify.

What are ICC profiles and how are they used?

Color management in its full generality is complicated.  Books have been written about it.  The basic idea with ICC profiles is that you profile each component of your system, e.g. your monitor, scanner and printer.  This is an expensive and time-consuming undertaking.  Our focus is on what is necessary for the amateur photographer, so we have taken a more direct approach that saves you time and money.

Is this patented?

Our patent is pending.
